why Pilates? 

Pilates was originally created in the early 20th century by German physical trainer called Joseph Pilates. The inspiration for his method came to him during World War I, while he was being held at the Knockaloe internment camp on the Isle of Man.

Using his knowledge and his background; his dad was a gymnast and his mum a naturopath, he started helping the injured soldiers with their recovery. Afterwards, he took his technique to professional dancers in America and other athletes.

Pilates is low intensity, muscle-strengthening workout that promotes flexibility, mobility, and improves posture and wellbeing. I love that it also sets your body up to complete other more intense strength-training safely.

I love the fact that Pilates is really inclusive, everyone can benefit from it! It helps in any other activities we do in our daily routine, making our quality of live much more enjoyable.

Our in-person classes take place in Rugeley, Staffordshire. Each class lasts for 1 hour and you will be welcomed by our friendly community.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I prepare for the session?
Dress comfortably, and avoid clothes that restrict your movements. T-shirts, vests, sport tops, leggings, shorts, soft joggers are a few examples of what you could wear. We normally exercise bare foot or with grippy socks, but feel free to wear comfortable trainers if you prefer.
Do I need any equipment?
We use a Pilates mat in class, same as a Yoga mat. I have a few spare ones with me and you are welcome to borrow one or bring your own if you prefer. We also use a mini ball , I normally keep 1 or 2 spare ones for the new members to borrow on their first day. The mini ball can be purchased online from any sports shop or Amazon and are very inexpensive. (I can order one online for you, if you wish, just let me know)
I had an injury in the past, can I still join Pilates classes?
If you had an injury or have had surgery in the past, we advise that you consult your doctor before starting any activity. Once you feel well and have the all-clear, please fill up our ParQ and informed consent forms, then you are welcome to join us safely. Pilates helps to strengthen the core and back muscles, which can help to prevent future injuries.
Can I bring my partner or friend?
Of course! We have couples who attend the classes together, our class is open to any gender and everyone is welcome.
Am I too old to try Pilates? Are sessions suitable for beginners?
There is no age limit to Pilates! I offer different levels to most of the exercises we do, so everyone feels successful but challenged at the same time. Everyone starts somewhere, you don’t have to be perfect or able to reach an advanced level straight away. I like to say flexibility is like building muscle, you need to work on it slowly! Remember once you start you can only get better.
I have mobility issues, can I still join the classes?
We have members who have improved their mobility substantially after starting Pilates. If you can get yourself on the floor with some support of a chair for example, you are welcome to join us.
Is there a car park?
Yes both venues in Rugeley have free car park onsite.
How do I cancel a session I booked?
You can cancel a session up to 24 hours before the class. Sessions already paid can be transferred to a suitable date in future. Sessions cancelled with less than 24h are non refundable and can’t be moved to the future. (Same applies to Personal Training)
How do I cancel my online membership?
You can cancel your online membership at any time. Simply message me and I will stop your direct debit. You will still access the group until the end of your monthly payment.
